Secular Dynamics for Curved Two-Body Problems

چکیده
Consider the dynamics of two point masses on a surface constant curvature subject to an attractive force analogue Newton’s inverse square law, that is under ’cotangent’ potential. When distance between bodies sufficiently small, reduced equations motion may be seen as perturbation integrable system. We take suitable action-angle coordinates average these perturbing terms and describe dynamical effects two-bodies.

Gauss’s Method for Secular Dynamics, Softened
We show that the algorithm proposed by Gauss to compute the secular evolution of gravitationally interacting Keplerian rings extends naturally to softened gravitational interactions. The resulting tool is ideal for the study of the secular dynamical evolution of nearly Keplerian systems such as stellar clusters surrounding black holes in galactic nuclei, cometary clouds, or planetesimal discs. ...
متن کاملCurved QCD string dynamics
We consider the effects of going beyond the approximation of a straight string in mesons by using a flexible flux tube model wherein a Nambu-Goto string bends in response to quark accelerations. The curved string is dynamically identical to the straight string even for ultra-relativistic mesons except for a small additional radial momentum. We numerically solve the curved string model in the ca...
متن کاملTwo - body problems with confining potentials
A formalism is presented that allows an asymptotically exact solution of non-relativistic and semi-relativistic two-body problems with infinitely rising confining potentials. We consider both linear and quadratic confinement. The additional shortrange terms are expanded in a Coulomb-Sturmian basis. Such kinds of Hamiltonians are frequently used in atomic, nuclear, and particle physics.
متن کاملMixed finite element methods for two-body contact problems
This paper presents mixed finite element methods of higher-order for two-body contact problems of linear elasticity. The discretization is based on a mixed variational formulation proposed by Haslinger et al. which is extended to higher-order finite elements. The main focus is on the convergence of the scheme and on a priori estimates for the h− and p-method. For this purpose, a discrete inf-su...
متن کاملVariational separable expansion scheme for two-body Coulomb-scattering problems
We present a separable expansion approximation method for Coulomblike potentials which is based on Schwinger variational principle and uses Coulomb-Sturmian functions as basis states. The new scheme provides faster convergence with respect to our formerly used non-variational approach. Both variational approaches and separable expansion schemes are extensively used in solving few-body problems....
